I live in southwest Georgia and I write about the non-academic skills (focus, motivation, procrastination, etc.) that students seem to be missing, and teachers can’t quite place a majority of instructional time on, but the skills are needed to attain academic success. I have worked in education for 15 years. I’ve taught elementary, middle, and post-secondary students. I was not only a classroom Reading/English Language Arts teacher, but I served students, teachers, and administrations in roles such as team leader, leadership team chairwoman, academic coach, and school improvement grant administrator. I have a vested interest in school improvement and literacy; but most importantly, in student success and achievement.
